Indigenous people’s culture, coast fisherman life and port city labors spirit on an expedition towards CHITTAGONG – BANDARBAN & COX’S BAZAR
An expedition through Chittagong, Bandarban, and Cox’s Bazar reveals one of Bangladesh’s most highlighted
vivid cultural and human landscapes—where mountains, sea, and labors shape everyday life in extraordinary ways.
Together, this Photo expeditions route is more than a tour—it is an immersion into Bangladesh’s living tapestry. From tribal hill culture to coastal fishing adventures and industrial working-class life, it captures the raw, authentic spirit of a region where tradition and survival walk side by side.

Farther more, In the hill tracts of Bandarban, indigenous communities live close to nature, preserving centuries-old traditions, colorful attire, and spiritual practices. Villages tucked into green hills offer a rare glimpse into tribal life—simple, resilient, and deeply connected to the land. Nearby, remote places “Rangkot Buddhist monastery which was ancient hill settlements) echo similar cultural richness shaped by rivers, Bay and hill life.

Descending toward the coast, Cox’s Bazar opens into a dramatic marine world. Here, fishermen venture into the Bay of Bengal on traditional moon-shaped boats, braving tides and night seas. Along the shoreline, communities engage in age-old practices of dry fish processing and coastal trade, where life is dictated by wind, salt and fish.

Further north, Chittagong—the country’s main port city—presents a stark contrast. Industrial zones reveal intense human effort: salt fields shimmer under the sun as workers harvest crystals through traditional evaporation methods, while salt refineries transform raw collection into essential commodities. Nearby shipbreaking yards—among the largest in the world—tell a powerful, often heart-wrenching story of laborers’ lives), where labors dismantle massive giant ships by hand, exposing both human resilience) and harsh realities.
